Description:

This tuo is made of wild arbor sun-dried material from Youle mountain, also called Jinuoshan, Youle is one of the Six Famous Tea Mountains in Xishuanbanna. Spring Youle mountain material pressed to tuo shape. Stored in Banna for 4 years (- very good storage without bad signs of mold or other negative strangeness make the tea taste terrible!) and mature faster than in dry Kunming storage.

Nice golden clean tea soup with hint of honey, smooth and mellow in mouth, ripe fruit and honey taste, long sweet aftertaste.

Cheap and good Tuocha from Youle

5 stars 4.0 This review helped: 0 / 0

It is a material made of wild arbor tea plants from Youle area. Tea was stored four years in humid environment of Banna.

Wet leaves smell nice, slightly mature with intense fruity aromas.
I would recommend a little longer rinsing. After all, the tea was stored in a humid environment. There are some signs of the humid storage after a short rinsing. But a brew is perfectly clean after rinsing for about 10s.

Full, sweet, honeyed, fruity taste that transforms into considerable astringency on the back of the tongue. Sweetness comes back from the nose to the mouth. Long Hui Gan. Very aromatic tea. Empty cup smells sweet.

Energy is medium and brings about a pleasant mood :-) Price will also brings you a pleasant mood: 100g for $5. It is a good tea to drink now; It is moderately matured for regular drinking. The potential for longer storage is certainly here. Tuocha is firmly pressed, so it will ripen slowly.

It is necessary to pay attention to the dosage and times. Longer steeping times could bring some uncomfortable and intense astringency.

5g to 80 ml - rinsing 10s - water 90°C - 10s/5/7/10/12/15/20/25/30/40/50

We compared two teas from Youle. 2005 Jinuo Shan You Le "Red Sun Drum" and 2009 Youleshan Tuo Cha Raw 100g. There is a difference of 4 years between those two teas. They also differ in shape and processing method.
Older "Red Sun Drum" is already a 9-year-old, big cake, weighing 357g. It is loosely pressed and contains a wide leaves. Tea matured first 5 years in humid environments Banna. Unfortunately, it is already sold out. The final price was $35 on Yunnan Sourcing.
Younger 100g tuocha is now 5-year-old and is very firmly pressed. You should be very careful while chipping to avoid injury;) There is the note about "wild arbor" material in the tea’s description. I am little bit skeptical regarding this. The leaves are partially chopped. You can still find big long buds and entire leaves in the tea. Tuocha was also stored in a humid environment of Banna for 4 years. Tea now costs $5 per tuochu.
Both teas have a very sweet, floral - fruity aroma typical for Youle area. The taste of cake from year 2005 is fruitier and sweeter than 2009 tuo. Cake is well settled and matured now. There is virtually no astringency, infusion of orange color. Leaves are in very good quality. Tuocha matures more slowly because of its heavy compression. It can be seen even on leaves that are still freshly green after 5 years. Tuo contains very strong astringency, which is a promising sign for the further maturation. There is also enough energy with wilder characteristic.
Now price. Tuo is about half the price of cake. If you like tea from Youle, in my view, it is "bargin" :) I bought tong and I shall see how the tea develops.
