Description:

This brick was stored in Kunming since 2006, it was made by using the best raw materials Haiwan Tea Factory could find.

A few factors make this tea brick very expensive. 1. it's rare as it's hard to get it nowadays at the marketplace; 2. it's a certified 'Organic'; 3. its raw materials were harvested from ancient tea trees; 4. it's big 500g heavy, the equivalent of two standard 250g bricks, 5. it's a collector's item. Once you considered all of these factors, you may understand why it's so expensive.

In any event, the tea tasted OK, the rough edge is almost gone, it's a lot easy to appreciate the genuine Pasha tea: a fragrant bright yellow mellowed tea with a nice throat feel.

Organic Pasha Brick

5 stars 3.5 This review helped: +1 / 0

This tea in the form of 400g cake is my big favorite, so when I found out that it is available on puerhshop.com as 500g bricks, I could not resist and bought one piece. Brick is very tightly pressed. The tea smells after tobacco when unwrapped. After rinsing the tea produces intense tobacco - herbal smell, but the tobacco component is dominant. The infusion’s color is pale yellow to greenish, much lighter than the version in the cake. The taste is again dominated by tobacco. Herbs and fruitiness are suppressed in the background. Tobacco is actually present in the infusion throughout the whole tea-time. You can prepare 9 to 10 infusions. I was slightly disappointed after the first tasting of this brick. I think that due to the tight pressing and also due to the dry storage in Kunming the process of aging was not as good as in case of cake. Well, I will see how the brick develop in the future. So fare I definitely prefer this tea in the form of cake.

Quotes - Pu-erh

„Ripened or aged raw pu-erh has occasionally been mistakenly categorised as a subcategory of black tea due to the dark red colour of its leaves and liquor. However, pu-erh in both its ripened and aged forms has undergone secondary oxidization and fermentation caused both by organisms growing in the tea and free-radical oxidation, thus making it a unique type of tea. This divergence in production style not only makes the flavour and texture of pu-erh tea different but also results in a rather different chemical makeup to resulting brewed liquor.“

„Yu Shui Cha; 雨水茶. Literally Rain water tea. Summer Tea. Less prized than Spring Tea or Autumn Tea. The flavour is usually less fulsome than Spring tea. Also, it is often oven-dried (hong qing; 烘青) as it is harvested in the rainy season.“
