Category: Pu-erh

Country: China

Province: Yunnan

Harvest: 2010

Date of production: 2010

Shop: JustPuerh.ca

Description:

This is raw (sheng), aged puerh tea harvested in 2010. The tuocha (tea cake) is made of leaves and buds from the ancient forests of Mannong Manmai of China’s Yunnan province. The small size of these cakes makes them perfect for individual brewing. Taste has more floral and sweet notes than other aged puerh teas. Thick body that instantly coats the tongue, and a very rich texture that goes down smooth.

Steeping:

It can be steeped like any raw (sheng) aged puerh tea. Our preferred simple, no-hassle method is to rinse the tea once in order to activate the tea leaves, and then cover it with hot boiled water and let it steep for at least 5 minutes. You could also use a thermos and let the tea keep brewing there and consume it slowly over the course of a couple hours.

Quotes - Pu-erh

„Then there is the more nuanced problem of what to do with the samples. It’s quite easy to say that sampling widely will give you experience in tea drinking. In practice, however, that’s not so simple. Of course, trying all kinds of teas will most certainly give you experience. However, it is experience on a relatively shallow level. Certain kinds of teas, such as really bad or really good teas, will probably manifest themselves quite readily. Others, however, are not so obvious. It is actually easier to try teas if you, say, cup them, but then it becomes work and the process is not very enjoyable. This is, ultimately, a hobby, and not a job (for me anyway) so taking the fun away like that is basically missing the point.“

Quotes

„cha shi; 茶室 - Literally tea room. A tea shop. Also sometimes a brothel. Japanese friends who were so acquainted have told me that in China Town in Bangkok, up until a few years ago, there were a handful of such establishments, where one ostensibly went to drink tea, but could avail oneself of further diversions. Apparently, the tea was not up to scratch.“
